Jamey Turner: Turning a Glass of Water Into Something Beautiful, Literally

Jamey Turner knew it when he was six years old. He was the youngest one sitting around the dining table in a modest house in Lewistown, Montana. His father, an elementary school teacher by day and fiddler/singer by night, had gathered his barbershop quartet for dinner, and some of them began to have some acoustic fun with the glassware. “I remember it so clearly – everyone going around the table striking their glass for a different note, one by one,” said Turner, now 65 and living in Alexandria, Virginia.

75 restaurants in the DC metro area have signed on to support the DC Tap Project! Great restaurants all around the city have joined Tap DC including BLT Steak, Brasserie Beck, Citronelle, Jaleo, Leopold's, Oyamel, Proof, Restaurant Eve, and Zaytinya! Be part of the Tap DC TV commercial!

The Tap DC team is looking for people willing to be filmed as they take part in forming a large-scale work of art. We will be filming on the National Mall on Saturday, March 14, and the footage will be used to create a TV commercial promoting UNICEF’s Tap Project airing before and during World Water Week (March 22-28). You’ll see the commercial on TV 48 hours after we shoot! So come out to support a great cause and have a great time doing it.

Tap Project Volunteer Training on Sunday!

We will be holding a training for all volunteers this Sunday, March 8 at George Washington University from 12:30 - 2:30 on training and supporting restaurants during the coming weeks.

The training will take place at 800 21st Street Room 402
(corner of 21st and H; one block from the Foggy Bottom Metro station)

Outdoor Advertising Launches March 1

Soon you'll be seeing more about Tap DC all around Washington!

On March 1, Tap DC's outdoor advertising campaign begins. We received many beautiful submissions during this first phase of our art project, and we selected the best works to display in our outdoor ad campaign. Tap DC advertising will be appear on buses, in the Metro, and in bus shelters around town.
